DENIM

Behind The Seams

Denim is one of the most hardwearing fabrics in your wardrobe, built to be worn again and again and to only get better with age. That said, the way it's dyed means a little extra care in the first few washes goes a long way in keeping both your denim, and everything it touches, looking its best.

Caring For Denim

Denim's rich colour comes from the way it's dyed, which is exactly what gives it that lived-in, authentic look over time, but it does mean the colour can transfer onto lighter fabrics, surfaces, and upholstery, especially when new or damp.

Keep freshly worn or washed denim away from light-coloured furniture, bags, and garments until you're confident the colour has settled.

Washing Denim

Wash cold and separately, or with similar dark colours, to protect both your denim and anything it comes into contact with. Turning the garment inside out before washing helps preserve the colour for longer and protects any hardware or embellishment on the outer surface.

Skip the fabric softener and bleach, and avoid tumble drying on high heat, as this can accelerate fading and shrinkage. Some fading with each wash is completely normal and part of denim's natural character.
